One of the great legacies of the Reformation is the catechism, a question-and-answer approach to learning the basics of the faith in a systematic way. Over the years some of the questions have changed but not the source of their answers: the Bible, God’s holy Word. The genius of the catechism is how it lays out the most vital issues of our hearts—God’s plan and human need, our walk of faith both in the church and in the world—in a clear and easy to remember format that can fit into anyone’s schedule. Just twenty minutes a week can result in amazing growth.
October 31, 2017, marked the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and its call to rededicate ourselves to study of the Word. Let’s all work at that discipline.
